Far West producers snap up quality rams on offer at Cobar Invitational sale

Buyers sought rams with outstanding growth and overall quality at the Cobar Invitational Dorper and White Dorper sale in Cobar on August 6.

At auction, nine vendors sold 37 of 50 White Dorper rams to a top price of $6000 to average $1700, while 25 of 29 Dorper rams from seven vendors topped at $5000 to average $2528.

The sale topper, Etiwanda 226515, was knocked down to Jim Crossley, Hay, for $6000.

Sired by Burrawang Tap 180559 and out of Etiwanda 171688, the August-2022 drop White Dorper ram weighed 103.5 kilograms.

It had an Australian Sheep Breeding Value (ASBVs) of +8.31 for weaning weight (WWT), +13.39 for post weaning weight (PWWT), +2.01 for post weaning eye muscle depth (PEMD) and +0.27 for post weaning fat (PFAT).
